A Simple Phone Call That Changed Everything
Every once in a while, something happens that reminds us why we do what we do — something that makes the whole room feel a little brighter.
Just before officially starting her new position as Manager of Nursing, Ailene Villalva stopped by the office for a few hours. She began listening to the voicemails left from the previous week… and one message tugged at her heart.
Something in that message said, Call her now.
So Ailene did.
The woman on the other end of the phone had an abortion appointment scheduled for the very next day. But during their conversation, she learned — maybe for the first time — that she wasn’t alone. She heard about the support, care, and resources offered through Birthline and HiPeak Health.
By the end of the call, she made a life-altering decision.
She canceled the appointment.
She chose to bring her pregnancy to term.
Ailene walked into the room afterward and said the words we will never forget:
“We saved a baby today.”

As we continue preparing our Lakewood facility with safety upgrades like a resurfaced parking lot and extended fencing, our mission is only growing stronger. Mothers are welcomed with dignity. Babies receive a chance at life. Families begin healing.
